As a psychological psychotherapist in private practice, I treat the entire spectrum of psychological problems and mental disorders, eg. Anxiety, depression, eating disorders, personality disorders, psychosomatic symptoms, sexual problems, low self-esteem, difficulties at work/ studies, obsessive-compulsive disorder, difficulties in personal relationships, difficulty in taking decisions, psychological trauma, grief.
Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy (psychology of depth) focuses on current symptoms and difficulties that may arise from early adverse experiences. Psychotherapy aims at understanding the reason, why symptoms emerge now, as well as how they are connected to earlier experiences. Through psychotherapy, an insight in previously unconscious wishes, feelings or resources is achieved. In this way, symptoms are relieved and making changes in Here and Now is possible. Psychotherapy is usually a long-term process that last around 24-60 weekly sessions (50 minutes). Frequency and exact number of sessions are adapted to your personal needs.
Counselling
Psychological counselling (coaching) is indicated in cases where no mental illness is diagnosed, but you need support for a specific issue or goal, eg. personal or career beginnings, dilemmas, dealing with a breakup or a crisis in your relationship. Counselling may help understanding the roots of your difficulties, to set the right goals and discover new strengths and resolution approaches. Counselling is a short-term process that lasts usually around 7 to 15 sessions (50 minutes). Frequency and exact number of sessions are adapted to your personal needs. In our first session we can find out whether counselling or psychotherapy is better for your specific needs.
Costs
Most private health insurances (private Krankenversicherung) cover the costs for psychotherapy, however there are differences between different insurances regarding the number of sessions and rates of reimbursement. Please contact your health insurance before starting therapy and ask for specific information and the relevant application forms.
Alternatively, you can pay for our sessions yourself. In this case, no application to your health insurance is needed and therapy can start directly without bureaucratic processes. The costs are based on the current GOP (Gebührenordnung für Psychotherapeuten).
Since I have a private practice for psychotherapy, statutory health insurances (Gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) do not cover the costs of psychotherapy in my practice.
Costs for counselling, unlike psychotherapy, are generally not covered by health insurances. A counselling session (50 minutes) at my practice costs 100,00 €.
About me
Respect, trust and empathy are central principles of psychotherapy. I strive for a safe space in our sessions to talk freely about your wishes, fears and experiences.
Beyond distress, psychological crises and symptoms often also bring a chance to discover something important about yourself and to find strengths that you may have forgotten or were not aware of. Psychological symptoms sometimes stimulate or are stimulated by processes of change. Psychotherapy may be needed in transitional phases and provide a useful support on your own, personal path of change or discovery. Similarly, constructively working on inner and outer conflicts may help redefine situations, relationships and behaviour patterns. I will be glad to support you on your personal journey and help you discover strengths and resources that you can constructively implement towards solving your problems.
Through my work in psychotherapeutic counselling for students (university of Heidelberg) I am experienced in subjects that often concern young adults but also may be of importance in several life phases. As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I am interested in early life experiences that may play a role in current difficulties or even constitute important strengths. Since our birth is our first transitional phase, pre-and perinatal strains may sometimes have long-term consequences or relevance to current subjects. My wish is to help you achieve an emotional understanding of the effect of adverse biographical experiences on your current life and discover new perspectives and new ways of action.
